My work is based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT. According to CBT, our thoughts lead to our feelings which lead to our behaviors. Unhelpful thoughts lead to emotional distress which leads to unproductive behavior. We can improve our mental health by becoming aware of, disputing and replacing these unhelpful thoughts with constructive thoughts. As a result, we can feel better and be more productive.
My approach combines Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with mindfulness. Mindfulness is a state of open and nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. By cultivating mindfulness, we are able to become aware of our unhelpful thoughts as they happen and apply the tools used in CBT. Adding mindfulness to CBT improves results.
