My Associates

Justin Jurgens, MA, APCC

It is not easy to ask for help. I believe that in order to move forward in our lives, we need to be able to dig deep and figure out what is holding us back. While this can be challenging and at times uncomfortable, it is not something you need to do alone. Together, in a trusting and collaborative relationship, we will create a safe space where you can feel empowered to discover that there is more in you than you know, and maybe even have fun doing it! I invite you to come as you are, and know that whomever you are and whatever you bring to our sessions will be accepted with compassion, unconditional positive regard, and without judgment. I work with individuals, and offer a safe space for those in the LGBTQIA+ community. I am passionate about working with adolescents.

Specialties: – Anxiety – Coping Skills – Creativity – Depression/Shame – Relationships – Self Esteem – Trauma/PTSD/C-PTSD

Are you a creative struggling with substance use issues? I have experience working with people in the arts, addiction, substance use disorder, 12-step, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQ+ issues. I believe healing starts with the transformative power of empathy and genuine connection. Through a client-centered approach, I create a nurturing environment where you can explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences without judgment.

I am dedicated to fostering healing by utilizing a trauma-informed, humanistic approach. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to equip you with practical tools, as I believe in a balance between nurturing and challenging. I aim to provide a safe space to cultivate strength and navigate change.

I work with individual adults and adolescents via Telehealth.

Therapy for artists and creatives. Are you an artist or creative individual struggling to break free from anxiety, depression, or self-criticism? Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the weight of your own perfectionism or the relentless voice of your inner critic? If so, you’re not alone, and I’m here to help. Whether it’s the fear of failure, performance anxiety, or the constant worry about the future, anxiety can be a significant obstacle for creative individuals. The creative process can be emotionally taxing, and it’s not uncommon for artists to experience periods of depression. We can tackle these issues together.

Before starting my journey in psychotherapy, I enjoyed a rich and diverse career as an adjunct professor specializing in art. With a deep-rooted passion for the creative realm, I had the privilege of teaching a variety of courses at institutions such as UCLA, USC, Otis, and UC Irvine.

My passion for the arts, coupled with my clinical training, enables me to offer holistic support to individuals navigating the intersection of creativity and mental health. I am deeply committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued on their journey towards healing and self-discovery.

I work with both individuals and couples.

The ups and downs of life can feel overwhelming to manage on your own. When that happens, finding a therapist to help navigate life’s difficulties and the feelings around them can be worthwhile. Whether you are looking for a therapist for yourself or your child, I prioritize developing a welcoming and comfortable space for my clients to feel safe, and vulnerable, to create the change they want to see in life.

I provide support to adults navigating issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and major life changes, with added experience supporting people of color and the LGBTQIA+ community. My goal is to help you utilize your strengths and develop skills to help you embrace a more authentic self. I understand the unique ways that identity can impact the challenges life throws at us and aim to provide a space that welcomes exploring the dynamics of different cultural beliefs and is LGBTQIA+ affirming.

Whether it’s your 5 or 15 year old, I can help provide you and your child with the tools to help them navigate whatever life brings their way. Between my experience as a teacher and a therapist, I have helped support children of all ages with anxiety, depression, grief, behavioral issues, ADHD, and more.

I know therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution, so whether long-term or short-term, we can work to support you or your loved one in living a more joyful and full life.
